Original Air Date: January 30, 2003
At a bar, Carla (Judy Reyes) makes a decision on the right answer to Turk's (Donald Faison) proposal while Elliot (Sarah Chalke) thinks she has struck gold when she meets Paul (guest star Rick Schroder, "NYPD Blue"), a charming man whom she recognizes from the hospital and assumes is a fellow physician. However, the next day, she learns that he is a nurse, and she is forced to put her ego in check to give the relationship a chance. In the meantime, J.D. (Zach Braff) enjoys a rare day when everything goes right while Dr. Cox's (John C. McGinley) world is in chaos as he manages to alienate himself from all of his colleagues at the hospital. Ken Jenkins and Neil Flynn also star; Eric Bogosian ("Talk Radio") also guest-stars as a therapist.

My Brother/My Keeper - Season 2

Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) assigns J.D. (Zach Braff) to work on a patient with Dr.Townshend (Dick Van Dyke, "Diagnosis Murder") -- his longtime friend and colleague -- but things go downhill when Dr. Townshend insists on using his "old school" treatment method which proves to be an alien concept to an inept J.D. While Kelso defends his friend's technique, Dr. Townshend's lack of current medical knowledge forces Kelso to admit his mistake. Meanwhile, Carla (Judy Reyes) tells Turk (Donald Faison) she needs time to consider his proposal because she thinks he is still too immature, promtping Turk to invite his married brother (D.L. Hughley, "The Hughleys") for a visit to show Carla how serious he is. In addition, Elliot (Sarah Chalke) learns the sex of Jordan's (guest star Christa Miller Lawrence) baby, but Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) and his ex-wife can't agree if they want to know.

This theory is put to the ultimate test when a husband must choose between saving his unborn child and his wife's well-being. (Zach Braff) and Elliot (Sarah Chalke) continue to seek relief from their problems by sleeping together, but when things start to get a little out of control, Elliot proposes that they become "sex buddies," which seems at first to be the perfect solution. Elliot thinks she has a handle on things, but when Turk (Donald Faison) is forced to take the heat from Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) for her mistakes with one of their patients, he tries to lighten her load by suggesting that her patients switch to the care of other doctors. His good intentions put him at odds with both his friends and they are forced to re-evaluate their "arrangement."
